Solid Snake, also known as David, is the main protagonist of the Metal Gear series. A highly skilled special operations soldier, he is renowned for his infiltration and espionage expertise.
His first appearance was in the 1987 MSX2 game, Metal Gear, created by Hideo Kojima. In this game Snake is tasked with destroying a nuclear equipped tank called Metal Gear.
Snake is a clone of the legendary soldier Big Boss, created as part of the "Les Enfants Terribles" project. This genetic connection makes him a formidable warrior but also burdens him with a complex past and moral conflicts. Despite his origins, Solid Snake consistently fights for what he believes is right, often against his own creators and other powerful figures.
